Dr. Xu is a Board certified Ophthalmologist both in the United States and in Canada. He specializes in the management of medical and surgical retinal diseases. He completed a master’s degree (MHsc) in Epidemiology (University of Toronto), a doctor of Medicine (MD) degree (McMaster University), and an ophthalmology residency (Queen’s University) in Canada. He completed a medical and surgical retina Fellowship at Weill Cornell Medicine, Cornell University, in New York City and trained with world-renowned retina specialists. Dr. Xu has published manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals.

His research interests include age-related macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, retinal detachment, proliferative vitreoretinopathy, infectious endophthalmitis, and surgical techniques. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Retina Specialists, and American Medical Association.
