Dr. Duane L. Mitzel is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He received his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine, Barnes Hospital, in St. Louis, MO. After his residency, he received the highest score in the country on the American Board of Ophthalmology exam in 1983.

Dr. Mitzel is currently Chief of Ophthalmology and Director of Ophthalmology Residency at Maricopa Medical Centerin Phoenix, AZ. He has faculty appointments to the University of Arizona Medical School in Tucson and Phoenix, Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, PA and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.

He is also an Associate Examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology.
